Recreational Culinary Courses - A Taste of Culinary Education

My friend Saskia attended a three-day Thai culinary course in Sydney and now cooks fabulous Thai food. Sharing an excellent dinner with friends in the intimacy of a home setting is a pleasure - this is reason enough for recreational culinary courses. They can also lead to a more formal culinary education, and a potential culinary career.

The Scottsdale Culinary Festival and Arizona Culinary Schools

The Scottsdale Culinary Festival, which took place in Arizona last month, is one of many nationwide events where graduates of culinary schools demonstrate gourmet cooking techniques. Top chefs from Arizona restaurants and culinary schools show food lovers how to cook many different meals. Visitors ranging from experts to novices can try different foods and wines, which makes it a great time. While it can offer only a brief taste of what might be learned at Arizona Culinary Schools, a culinary festival can also awaken the desire to start a culinary career.

SCI also offers a 9-month Le Cordon Bleu Patisserie & Baking certificate program in which students will learn over 200 proficiencies, including artisan bread production, sugar show pieces, classic European pastry, and much more.

Recreational Culinary Courses can be the Start of a Culinary Career

Recreational culinary courses offer the public a more hands-on approach than festivals and range from a few hours to a few days long. There are now over 500 culinary schools offering recreational culinary courses, compared to 278 culinary schools offering culinary degrees.

In my view, recreational culinary courses and culinary festivals are great experiences. You cannot expect to emerge a top chef at the end of the day, but the lessons learned will have an immediate impact on your cooking and lifestyle. They could also easily mark the first step in a culinary career. With the interest in the culinary arts growing daily, the US will need all the chefs it can train.
