Online Chef Tool: Cook's Thesaurus
Ever find yourself in the kitchen, ready to start work on an ambitious recipe, only to realize that you're missing a key ingredient? You need a good substitute and the Cook's Thesaurus is a great place to look online for suggested substitutions. Look up a food and the site will return pictures, descriptions, variations, possible substitutes, cooking notes, shopping hints, and pronunciations (presumably so you won't embarass yourself when shopping). Yet another reason to bring your laptop into the kitchen (just put it somewhere you won't spill on it!).
