8 Reasons to Attend Online Cooking School

If you've been following this column, you might have read about Sandra who, because of limited finances, created a "cooking school" of her own. Admittedly, she was quite determined, and her particular style might not suit you. If your funds are low, but you still want to receive a culinary education, you might consider attending online cooking school as an option.

The Advantages of Attending an Online Cooking School:

  1. Online culinary schools are usually cheaper than traditional campus programs. With fewer expenses and less overhead, they can afford to charge you less tuition.
  2. You have a wider range of schools from which to choose since you won't have to relocate to a new physical location. If there is an online cooking school on the other side of the world that interests you, you can take classes there as long as they have online offerings (increasingly, more and more schools are doing this).
  3. You'll never need to commute anywhere (except your local grocery store) since online culinary schools come to you via the Internet.
  4. You can make as many mistakes as you want without people gawking, pointing, or laughing (family members aside).
  5. You can keep your online cooking school on the DL (down low) until you feel comfortable sharing your skills with your family and friends. Surprise them with a delicious feast one day and pretend like nothing is out of the ordinary.
  6. If money is an issue, you could actually split the tuition of online cooking school with three or four of your friends. You can all work and collaborate in the same kitchen and learn simultaneously. Most online culinary schools will never know the difference (just don't say that I told you to do this).
  7. Online culinary schools give you a chance to brush up on your Internet skills.
  8. Online culinary schools allow you to fit classes around your schedule. Stream lectures and demonstrations whenever (and wherever) you have free time.
